Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit high-speed operation and shorten a setting time upon stopping, by switching the maximum exciting current for the excitation of a stepping motor from a high current to a low current upon finishing deceleration. CONSTITUTION:The maximum driving current of a stepping motor 1 is switched between a high current (ih) and a low current (il). In the sequence of acceleration-constant speed running-deceleration, the maximum driving current is switched from a high current (ih) into a low current (il) at least upon finishing deceleration. In the case of a short distance movement, deceleration is started when the speed of the motor 1 has not arrived at the maximum speed, therefore, the motor is driven by a low current (il) from the starting point of the movement and, further, vibration upon acceleration is considered so as not to affect the deceleration upon deceleration.
