Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the measurement of distance and the driving of a lens at the same time and to reduce a time for focusing by providing a selection means for selecting the quantity of driving the photographic lens corresponding to a defocusing quantity. CONSTITUTION:A detection means 2 detects the quantity of deviation between a position on the optical axis of the image surface where the image of an object is formed through the photographic lens 1 and a position on the optical axis of a film surface. The quantity of driving the photographic lens corresponding to the quantity of deviation is stored in a storage means 3 in a table form and the selection means 4 selects the quantity of driving the photographic lens corresponding to the quantity of deviation outputted from the detection means 2. In such a case, the matrix in which the driving quantity is made to correspond to the quantity of deviation is used in order to obtain the driving quantity corresponding to the quantity of deviation. Based on the quantity of driving the photographic lens outputted from the selection means 4 a driving control means 5 controls the driving and a driving means 6 drives a focusing lens group. Thus, the proper moving quantity of a focus group can be calculated and the time until completing AF can be shortened without repeating AF actions several times.
