Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a burden on workers by a method wherein a cooling medium is blown onto the surface of a molten slag floating on molten less than coagulating the molten metal and the molten slag is coagulated and removed. CONSTITUTION: A cooling medium C is blown onto the surface of a molten slag B from above the molten slag B at a proper point thereof in a state where the side of a tapping part 1a of a ladle 1 is inclined slightly downward to cool and coagulate the molten slag B. In this case, as the slag B near a raking part 2b is coagulated attributed to a positional relationship of a nozzle 3, the slag is moved to the side of the tapping part 1a by the raking part 2b to be discharged and removed from the tapping part 1a. With the ladle 1 kept horizontal, the tip of a suction tube 5 is approached almost above the central position of the surface of the molten slag B, the cooling medium is blown onto the surface of the molten slag B to coagulate from surrounding nozzles 6 and the slag is sucked by a suction tube 5. The cooling medium C herein used is a hydrocarbon based gas optimally considering safety in handling and cooling capacity though air and various cooling gases and liquids seem applicable.
