Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the polishing work for a cutter and prevent the vibration of a grinding wheel by installing a special cam mechanism between a rotary driving shaft and a revolution shaft for the wheel and allowing the revolution shaft for the wheel to be provided with an offset in the direction of the axis line. CONSTITUTION:When a cutter is inserted into the insertion ports 7a and 7b formed on one side of a case 1, grinding wheels 5 and 6 are applied with a load in the direc tion of arrow (a), and a rotary shaft 2 shifts in the same direction, and the cam projec tion 14 of a rotary driving shaft 12 relatively shifts along one guide surface on the V-shaped cam surface 17 of the rotary shaft 2. When the force in the direction of arrow (a) which is applied onto the wheels 5 and 6 by the cutter and the force compo nent in the reverse direction to the direction of arrow (a) which is applied onto one guide surface by the cam projection 14 are balanced, the relative shift between the cam projection 14 and one guide surface is eliminated. In this state, the revolution of the rotary driving shaft 12 is transmitted to the rotary shafts 2 of the wheels 5 and 6 through the cam projection 14 and one guide surface, free from vibration. Then, the cutting edge of the cutter can be smoothly ground by these rotary wheels 5 and 6.
