Abstract

PURPOSE:To uniformly stick a hydrophilic agent on the filter medium of a filter element by inserting the filter element immersed in the hydrophilic agent into a cylindrical vessel which is provided in a drying oven and opened in both ends and drying the filter element. CONSTITUTION:Both the surface and the rear of a porous thin film consisting of synthetic resin such as PP which is excellent in heat resistance and chemical resistance and has hydrophobic property are superposed with reticular cloth or nonwoven fabric having the same material as it to form a filter medium. This filter medium is subjected to gusseting work and formed into a chrysanthemum-shaped cylinder. A filter element 3 is formed by fitting both an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder having many holes to the inside and the outside of the chrysanthemum-shaped cylinder respectively and fixing end-plates having an aperture in the center to both ends and the filter element 3 is immersed in an impregnating tank introduced with hydrophilic agent liquid. Then the filter element 3 is taken out from the tank and allowed to stand in the atmosphere to remove water droplets and thereafter inserted into a cylindrical vessel 10 which is arranged in a drying oven 8 and has diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the filter element 3 and is opened in both ends and then dried.
