Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to abut the touching fin at the curved part against the material to be mounted such as a center pillar even in an opening trim, on the touching fin of which embossing, fiber decoration or the like is applied, without impairing external appearance and color tone by a method wherein the touching fin at the position corresponding to the curved part is pinched between forming molds so as to transmit heat, which is generated in at least one of the molds, to the touching fin. CONSTITUTION:An inner side forming mold 14, which is heated, is inserted in a heating position, which presents between a trim main body 5 and a touching fin 6. The touching fin 6 is heated by heat transmitted from the inner side forming mold 14 so as to be plastically deformed. A heating body 15 is provided to the outside 14b of an inside forming die 14, by properly selecting the heating temperature and time during the process of said plastic deformation, the touching fin 6 is plastically deformed without impairing its external appearance. After the plastic deformation, by being cooled with air, the touching fin 6 hardens itself as plastically deformed. When an opening trim 4 is mounted to the material to be mounted such as the center pillar 2 and the like of the body 1 of an automobile, the touching fin 6 abuts against the material to be mounted and no gap is made between the fin and the material.
