Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent production of moire even if plural variable density pictures with different dot pitch exist by providing a moire eliminating means operated in response to edit attribute and a data edit means binarizing and outputting the result in response to the edit attribute. CONSTITUTION:The edit attribute (binary, halftone, inversion or white level inversion) is written in each area of an original picture in an attribute storage means 21. Moire eliminating means 24, 25 are operated to a picture having an area possible for production of moire depending on the edit attribute and magnification of an optical magnification means 12 and an electric reduction means 16 is set depending on the moire occurrence state for each area and the production of moire in each picture area is prevented. Even if plural variable density pictures with different dot pitch exist in the original, the production of moire in each picture is avoided.
