Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform effective denitration of exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine by reducing NOx by adding fuel to the exhaust gas, forming then oxidation atmosphere by adding exhaust gas or air, then reducing NOx by elevating the temp. of the gaseous mixture to 700-1,200 deg.C and injecting NH3 thereinto. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas 4 discharged from a main body 1 of a Diesel engine is divided into two streams, and NOx in the main stream 5 is reduced by feeding fuel gas from a fuel feeding line 6. Thereafter, oxidizing atmosphere contg. 1-10% O2 is formed by adding exhaust gas 9 which is a part of the exhaust gas branched from the exhaust gas 8 and/or air from an air feeding line 10 to the stream of the exhaust gas in which NOx has been reduced. The temp. of the gaseous mixture is elevated to 700-1,200 deg.C, and NH3 is added thereto from an NH3 feeding line 11, and residual NOx is reduced in a noncatalytic denitration apparatus 14. Denitration is processed further, if necessary, in a catalytic reactor 17.
