Abstract
PURPOSE: To precisely scan the lines of a target page by feeding a tape at a high speed by a speed controller during the retrieval of page addresses and moving the tape to a frame number position by a low speed frame unit tape transport when the target page is detected. CONSTITUTION: If a program is started and the VTR is in its reproducing mode, a search command is inputted. When the command is inputted and a cassette is loaded, the tape is driven and a present page address AP is read. Then, the computations of the address AP and a target page address DP are computed. If the target page is detected and the tape is moving in a normal direction, for example, a frame feeding is conducted against a speed controller in the reverse direction with respect to the direction during a search equivalent to the number of frames corresponding to the value indicated by low speed frame number data included in the address AP. Thus, a counter value is reduced for every frame advance, the tape transport is stopped when the value becomes zero and a still picture reproducing is executed.
