Abstract

PURPOSE:To use a thin memory card with simple constitution by providing a potential detecting terminal in a part of the connector of a reader/writer and adhering an insulating seal to a terminal having the earth potential or a certain potential of the memory card corresponding to this potential detecting terminal. CONSTITUTION:A connector 13 of a reader/writer 2 is provided with a potential detecting terminal 12, and a terminal 4 of a memory card 1 corresponding to this potential detecting terminal 12 is set to the earth potential or a certain potential, and the insulating seal is adhered to this terminal 4. That is, when the insulating seal is not adhered to the terminal of the memory card, the potential detecting terminal of the connector part and this terminal are connected and data is freely written in the memory card. When the insulating seal is adhered to the terminal of the memory card, write to the memory card is impossible. Thus, it is unnecessary to provide the memory card itself with a switch, and write protection of the thin memory card is performed with the simple constitution.
