Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of the brazing strength by preventing adverse effects of thermal expansion of an cylinder from being exerted on the end parts of lead wires upon brazing a one-side lead wire of the ceramic glow plug to a metal outer cylinder for use in a Diesel engine. CONSTITUTION:The end part 3a-1 of a one-side electrode take-out lead wire 3a is nakedly exposed on a position spaced apart from the rear end surface of a metal outer cylinder 5 on a ceramic sintered member 4, an electrode lead coil 11 is fitted on the outer side of the nakedly exposed part, the nakedly exposed end part 3a-1 of the lead wire 3a is brazed to the inner surface of the coil 11. One end of a connecting lead 12 is brought into contact with the end surface of the metal outer cylinder 5 and another end thereof is electrically welded to the outer side of the coil 11, thus brazing the metal outer cylinder 5 to the inner cavity at the tip end of a mounting metal fitting 8. Upon this occasion, by silver wax flowing into a space formed between the metal outer cylinder 5 and the mounting metal fitting 8, simultaneously with the brazing of the metal outer cylinder 5 and the mounting metal fitting 8, contact parts of one end of a connecting lead wire 12 and the end surface of the metal outer cylinder 5 are brazed.
