Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled glass having low expansion, excellent heat resistance, hardness and mechanical strength and high percent transmission at short wavelength, by blending oxides of specific elements, melting, annealing and heat-treating. CONSTITUTION:2.5-6wt.% Li2 is blended with 0-4wt.% Na2O, 0-4wt.% K2O, 0-4wt.% MgO, 0-4wt.% ZnO, 15-30wt.% Al2O3, 60-75wt.% SiO2, 1-4wt.% SnO2, 0-1wt.% TiO2, 1-4wt.% ZrO2, 0-4wt.% P2O5 in such a way that the amount of SnO2+ZrO2 is 3.5-7.0wt.% and optionally mixed with a colorant such as CrO3 or CeO2 and a clarifier such as As2O3 or Sb2O3, melted at 1,450-1,550 deg.C, annealed and heat-treated to give transparent crystallized glass containing beta-quartz solid solution and/or beta-spodumene solid solution as precipitated crystal.
