Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive improvement in accuracy of products and reduction in cost, by machining a base metal having excellent high-temperature strength to an approximate shape, simultaneously coating the machined base metal with a film having heat resistance, then forming a pattern of a resist and etching the pattern to form a mold. CONSTITUTION:A base metal 11, consisting of WC, etc., and having excellent heat resistance and high-temperature strength characteristics is subjected to machining to provide a form approximating to a desired shape to some extent. A coating film 12, such as SiC, having excellent high-pressure strength and heat resistance is then formed thereon. A desired pattern is subsequently formed with a resist 13 on the coating film 12 and the resist 13 and coating film 12 are partially processed into a desired shape by a wet or dry etching method to afford a pressing mold. The resultant mold with a high accuracy is used to press an optical element and improve the accuracy of the resultant product element. Since pressing is carried out, production cost of the product is reduced.
