Then, the high frequency component of the reproducing frequency modulating luminance signal is emphasized and the emphasized band consisting of the high frequency emphasizing circuit is transited to the low frequency side on the horizontal blanking period in which a high frequency emphasis appears as the adverse influence of the synchronizing interference. Thereby, an interference to a horizontal synchronizing signal is suppressed to emphasize the contour of the reproducing picture without generating the tension of the picture due to the synchronizing interference.
