Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition suitable for the production of service water pipes excellent in peeling resistance in chlorine-containing water, by mixing a polyolefin resin with carbon black having a total hydrogen content and a total oxygen content both below specified values in an amount in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:The title composition comprises 95-99.99wt.% polyolefin resin (e.g., PE or PP) and 0.01-5wt.% carbon black of a total hydrogen content <=0.2wt.% and a total oxygen content <=1wt.% (e.g., one formed by adjusting the total hydrogen content and total oxygen content of usual carbon black such as furnace black to values within said ranges by heat-treating it at about 15,000 deg.C or graphitized carbon black having said properties within the above ranges). This composition can be suitably used for the production of polyolefin resin pipes for service water, excellent in peeling resistance in chlorine- containing water.
