Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the weight of a gear light to reduce a rotational inertia force and thereby to improve precision in the phase of a mark pulse, by forming a tooth for the mark pulse on one of gears for detection integrally in extension in the axial direction CONSTITUTION:A gear 4 for detection having many teeth 3 and made of a magnetic material is fixed integrally to the rotating shaft 2 of a driving motor 1. On a specified tooth 3a out of these teeth 3, a tooth 5a for a mark pulse extending integrally in the axial direction and in the lateral direction of the gear 4 is formed. This tooth 5a is formed in such a manner that the teeth 3 of a width W is formed on the gear 4 and a part of a width W' is cut and removed therefrom. When the rotating shaft 2 rotates in prescribed numbers with the operation of the motor 1, a couple of count signals corresponding to each of the teeth 3 and being different in phase are obtained from a first magnetism detector 6a. From a second magnetism detector 6b, a couple of mark pulses corresponding to the tooth 5a and being different in phase are obtained.
