Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic disk substrate which is hardly changed in flatness even by a heating treatment by molding the magnetic disk substrate consisting of a synthetic resin by combining a specific metallic mold temp. and annealing temp. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic disk substrate consisting of the synthetic resin is molded by setting the mold temp. (Td: unit= deg.C) at Tg-60<=Td<=Tg-20 (Tg is the glass transition temp. of the synthetic resin to be used) and the resultant substrate is annealed at Td+10 and T-10 temp. at the time of molding the above-mentioned substrate by using the metallic mold. The substrate obtd. in such a manner is substantially released of the strain remaining therein at the time of the molding and the flatness obtd. by the molding is improved. Further, the heat resistance is improved as well and the flatness is hardly changed even by the heat applied to the substrate at the time of forming a magnetic layer thereon.
