Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable sure and secure grasping of an optical fiber without flawing the surface thereof by constituting an optical fiber holding means which detains the optical fiber at one end in such a manner as to grasp the optical fiber via a protective tube. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 1 is pressed by a collet chuck 3 from the outside circumference via the protective tube 2 and is grasped together with the protective tube 2. The slit 2a at one end of the tube 2 and the slit 3a of the chuck 3 are corresponded at this time. The optical fiber is thereby surely pressed and grasped without flawing the surface thereof. The holding of the optical fiber consisting of a metal-corrosive material such as AgCl is possible as well.
