Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a nozzle from being contaminated by tears, etc., by providing a suction means for sucking air surrounding an eye to be examined into a cylinder when the pressure in the cylinder is negative. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 10 has a compression chamber 14 wherein an air outlet 15 with a step is provided at the upper end thereof. The air outlet 15 has a suction hole 16 for sucking air surrounding an examined eye 22. The diameter D of the suction hole 16 is determined to satisfy the relation D>5d, wherein, d represents the diameter of a nozzle 21. The suction hole 16 has a suction valve 17 for closing the hole 16. When a piston 11 is pushed down to make the pressure of the compression chamber 14 negative, a solenoid 18 is activated to open the suction valve 17 for sucking air surrounding the eye to be examined 22 via a filter F into the compression chamber 14. Since the relation D>5d is satisfied, the air is sucked only from the suction hole 16 and is hardly sucked from the nozzle 21, thus preventing the nozzle from being contaminated by tears, etc.
