Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the introduction effect of a polymeric compound, by providing a pair of electrodes on opposite walls of a vessel containing a cell suspension liquid and applying high voltage pulse between the electrodes while rotating either the electrodes or the vessel. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes 2a, 2b are positioned on the opposite inner wall surfaces of a cylindrical vessel 1 containing a cell suspension liquid P and are immersed in the suspension. The electrodes are attached to a supporting shaft to enable the rotation of the electrodes 2a, 2b with a rotary mechanism 3. The cylindrical vessel 1 is charged with a cell suspension containing cells to be introduced and an introducing gene such as DNA or RNA. A high-voltage pulse is applied between the electrodes 2a, 2b while rotating the electrodes 2a, 2b or the vessel 1 relative to the cell suspension liquid. The introduction efficiency of a polymeric compound can be improved by this process.
