Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a reduction in heat exchanging performance of a heat exchanger and lengthen its service life by disposing a baffle plate which is wetted with water or other fluid in the inlet passage of air flow carrying dust. CONSTITUTION:When a refrigerating machine is being operated, the air flow A passes through a baffle plate 2 to enter into an evaporator 1 where it exchanges heat with and cooled by cooling medium flowing in a heat transmission pipe 1a through the heat transmission pipe 1a and fins 1b. Moisture contained in the air, then, is condensed on the surfaces of the heat transmission pipe 1a and fin 1b to become liquid, which flows down into a drain pan 3. Said condensate is splashed onto the baffle plate 2 by a rotating disc 4 to moisten the supporting member 2a and fins 2b. Dust contained in the air flow is adsorbed by the condensate on the surfaces of the support member 2a and fins 2b and is collected on the baffle plate 2. This way, dust is removed from the air flow coming into the heat exchanger by the baffle plate 2 before it enters into the heat exchanger.
