Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a sheet material for a hearth roll which enables ideal use thereof free from cracking by arranging sepiolite and an inorganic binder material as main components to achieve a better wear resistance. CONSTITUTION: Sepiolite, an inorganic binder material, a proper heatproof filler and a reinforcing fiber are mixed dispersively in water to form a slurry, which is dewatered to from a sheet material. A hearth roll manufactured using this seal material causes no cracking with a better wear resistance. Free from a flaw to a material to be heated, the product thus obtained can be used ideally as hearth roll for conveying of various continuously heat treating furnaces.
