Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a vehicle from unexpectedly starting during parking thereof, by operating a constraining means to constrain a drive condition change-over means at a neutral position when the drive condition change-over means is set at the neutral position and a brake device is deenergized while the vehicle is stopped. CONSTITUTION:Upon operation of an electromagnetic actuator 6 constituting a part of a constraining means and provided in the lower section of a lock plate 11 arranged adjacent to the arm base section of a select lever 10 as a drive condition chang-over means, a lock piece 13 provided at the forward end of the actuator 6 is allowed to approach a stepped part in the lock plate 11 so as to regulate the downward displacement and lateral displacement of a lock pin 12 when the lever 10 is set at positions N, P and when it is set at the position N, respectively. Further, the actuator 6 is controlled by a control device 7 in accordance with output signals from detecting means 1 through 5 so that the actuator 6 is operated when the lever 10 is set at a neutral position and a brake device is deenergized while the vehicle is stopped.
