Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to ensure a required traction by controlling a differential motion limiting mechanism so that the limitation to the differential motion of a differential gear unit is increased when the rotational speeds of right and left wheels are equal to each other after a vehicle enters into turning operation. CONSTITUTION:In a vehicle in which right and left wheels are driven by a different gear unit 14 having a differential motion limiting mechanism 12, there are provided rotational speed detecting means 16, 18 for detecting the rotational speeds of right and left drive wheels. There are provided a steering angle detecting means 20, a controller 22 and an operating means 24 for operating the differential motion limiting mechanism 22. The controller 22 judges whether the different in rotational speed between right and left drive wheels is zero or not during turning operation of the vehicle with a steering angle other than zero. When the difference in rotational speed is zero, that is, when the rotational speeds of left and right drive wheels are equal to each other, the amount of limitation to the differential motion is increased since it is the time the rotational speed of the inner side wheel upon turning operation is increased due to a load displacement, and exceeds the rotational speed of the outer side wheel so as to the operating means 24 is controlled to increased the opening degree of a restrictor orifice valve 64.
