Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate re-ignition of a lamp by connecting a saturable reactor between filaments on the non-power side of a lamp, and furnishing a means to switch this reactor for dimming of the lamp. CONSTITUTION:Transfer from 100% lighting to dimmed lighting is made by alternately operating transistors Tr1, Tr2 as a dimming signal. That is, when the transistor Tr1 is turned on, current flows to a power supply E1, primary winding n11 of saturable reactor 7, and closed loop (1) of transistor Tr1 to put the saturable reactor 7 into saturated state, and the apparent inductance on the secondary side becomes small. Therefore, the current from an oscillator transformer OT does no flow to a lamp 2 but bypasses to the secondary side of the reactor 7, so that the lamp current lessens in the region T1. In the region T1', on the other hand, the transistor Tr2 is turned on, and current flows to closed loop (2) to provide the same state as in the region T1, while in the region T2 the two transistors Tr1, Tr2 are turned off, and the same current as 100% lighting flows in the lamp 2.
