Abstract

PURPOSE:To cool a wire rod heating effectively and to obtain a wire drawing rod having excellent mechanical property by storing an ice inside the cooling box provided on the die rear face and cooling the wire drawing rod by passing it through the ice. CONSTITUTION:An ice cooling device 19 is provided on the die rear face. A rectangular ice container 21 capable of storing an ice is provided on the device 19, an ice feeding part 22 is arranged at the lower part thereof and a cooling box 17 is provided at the lowermost end thereof so as to wrap a wire drawing pass line. Also, a wire rod passing port is provided on the side wall 2 face in the longitudinal direction of the cooling box 17. A heating wire rod 24 is thus cooled by the ice, can be cooled to the lower temp. than that by a single water cooling and the wire rod can be cooled at stabilized temp. all the time. Consequently the wire drawing rod excellent in mechanical property is obtd.
