Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to form an end sealing with a good sealing condition and a high reliability by forming a resin layer integrally at the side surface of each laminate body which is made by laminating plural unit cells. CONSTITUTION:To each laminate body 7 made by laminating plural unit cells 4, a resin layer 8 is formed integrally to the side surface. As a result, since no sealing process is applied to the end of porous gas diffusion electrodes 1 and 2 beforehand, no unbalanced thickness is produced between the end and the center of the electrodes. And since there is no reduction of the surface accuracy owing to the increase of uneven thickness of the resin membrane in the sealing process itself, the surface contact between the element bodies is improved when the cell component elements are laminated, and the contact resistance is reduced by the improved electrical contact property, as well as the gas leakage from the interfaces between element bodies can be suppressed to the minimum, resulting in an improvement of the cell property.
