Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure a tilt angle as an analog value by incorporating a light emitting element and a light receiving element in a main body and adjusting the quantity of light between them according to the inclination of the main body. CONSTITUTION:The light emitting element 1 and light receiving element 2 are put in a container 3 with a window 3a and a container 5 for inclination detection which has a cavity 5a whose inside is in an elliptic spherical shape and contains a light shield pole 4 is sandwiched between them. When this inclination sensor S slants, the ball 4 moves from the position in a figure (a) to the position shown in the figure (b) to close one hole 3a of the cavity 5a and when the light of the element 1 is thus cut off, the light does not reach the element 2 and is therefore not photodetected. Consequently, when the sensor S is in a horizontal state in a circuit in a figure (c) which uses the sensor S, the element 2 is turned on, so no current flows to a load 10. When the sensor S slants to the horizontal to some extent, the element 2 turns off, so a current flows to the load 10. Therefore, the sensor S detects the inclination without mechanical contacting.
