Abstract

PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the titled substance as an intermediate for biological metabolism, by reacting a fumaric acid (salt) with metallic ions, oxidized form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NaD<+>), etc., in the presence of fumarase, pyruvic-malic carboxylase and reduced form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NaDH) oxidase. CONSTITUTION:Fumaric acid (salt) is reacted with metallic ions (preferably Mn<2+>, Mg<2+> or Co<2+>) and NaD<+> or NaDH in the presence of (A) fumarase, (B) pyruvic-malic carboxylase and (C) NaDH oxidase to afford the aimed compound. Furthermore, Brevibacterium flavum, etc., are cited as a microorganism having the ability to simultaneously produce the components (A) and (B). Leuconostoc mesenteroides ATCC 9135, etc., are cited as a supply source for the component (C).
