Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a virus.genom inactivator, capable of inhibiting manifestation of virus.genom in a low concentration and containing bilobetin as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A virus genom inactivator containing bilobetin, contained in plants, obtained by searching for using a Raji strain which is a cultivated cell derived from Burkitt.lymphoma containing Epstein.Barr.virus.genom therein and having inhibitory action on manifestation of the Epstein.Barr.virus.genom as an active ingredient. Plants containing the bilobetin are Araucaria.bidwilli, Ginkgo.biloba L., etc., and the bilobetin is extracted by a well-known method for extraction with a solvent or combination of various chromatographies. The bilobetin and the plant extract containing the bilobetin as an active ingredient are considered to be utilizable as an antiviral, carcinostatic agent, etc., and can also be applied to a preventive agent for cancer and healthy food. The inactivator can be prepared in the form of a pharmaceutical, such as tablet, capsule, troche, granule, powder, solution or syrup.
