Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain spherical and porous hydroxyapatite granular bulk material useful as cellular segregation agent, support for cultured cell or carrier for immobilizing enzyme, having specified particle diameter, surface area and pore volume. CONSTITUTION:The title bulk material is substantially spherical and porous hydroxyapatite granular bulk material having 20-2,000mum mean particle diameter, 5-100m<2>/g mean surface area and 0.01-1.0cm<3>/g mean pore volume. The hydroxyapatite granular bulk material can be produced by stirring an aq. suspension of hydroxyapatite in no presence of polymer flocculant or liq. bridging agent. The concentration of the aq. suspension of apatite is preferably 10-60wt.%. The porous and spherical hydroxyapatite granular bulk material having 20-2,000mum mean particle diameter and 10-200nm pore diameter is obtd. by sintering the hydroxyapatite granular bulk material obtd. by the method above-mentioned.
