Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase a filteration efficiency without increasing the flow resistance of filtered water in a collecting mechanism by gradually enlarging the cross section area of the collecting mechanism of a hollow yarn module formed by connecting stepwise the vertical bundle of hollow yarns arranged circumferentially to the collecting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The cross section areas of intake pipes 2C, 2B and 2A at a hollow yarn module formed by stepwise connecting the vertical connection 5A and 5B of a bundle 4 of hollow yarns through connecter 6 are made so that 2C is smaller than 2B and 2B is smaller than 2A. The bundle 4 of hollow yarns is formed by arranging open ends hollow yarns 3 around the intake pipes 2 with open ends as a collecting mechanism. When raw water is treated with this kind of hollow yarn module suspended in a filteration column, the flow rate of filtered water in the intake pipes 2 becomes greater as the intake pipe 2 positions move upper; however, a flow resistance of the filtered water does not increase accordingly because the cross section area of the intake pipes 2 becomes larger stepwise.
