Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the extent of binding power between platinum and its carrier as well as to improve the activity and durability of a cell by precipitating and deposting oxy-acid on a platinum catalyzer, bearing a platinum fine grain on carbon black, and firing it under a reducing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Hydrophilic-treated carbon black is dispersed in an exchange water, and a chloroplatinic acid solution is added to this, and furthermore a formic acid aqueous solution in quantity necessary to have platinum reduced is dripped. And, a solid portion is filtered, washed and dried up, whereby a bearing platinum catalyst is securable. This platinum catalyst is dispersed in the ion exchange water, adding a sodium titanate aqueous solution to it, and further hydrochloric acid is added, thereby separating a titanic acid onto the bearing platinum catalyst. And, a solid portion is subjected to heat treatment under an argon atmosphere, and a catalytic film is formed on a carbon substrate by the obtained catalyst. With this constitution, binding power between platinum and a carrier is increased, thus the activity and durability of a cell are improved.
