Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a woven friction material not using asbestos by fabricating original yarn for cloth in combination of short fibers or long fibers consisting of inorganic fiber, organic fiber, metal fiber, etc. CONSTITUTION:A cloth is impregnated with a thermohardening resin solution such as phenol resin, cashue resin, epoxy resin, etc., followed by drying, shaping/ hot pressed molding, and heat treatment. Thus a woven friction material is fabricated. As the cloth, at this time, short fibers or long fibers consisting of inorganic fiber, organic fiber, metal fiber, etc. such as glass fiber, carbon fiber, or rock wool are used either solely or compositely, and material yarns for cloth obtained through spinning or twisting together are placed in a single layer or multi-layers. The cloth thus obtained is used to provide a woven friction material having an equal or higher performance to/than any conventional woven friction material of asbestos type.
