Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer having excellent heat stability and processing properties, suspending a vinyl chloride polymer having used a specific amount of a specific alpha-olefin as a molecular weight modifier in an aqueous medium and chlorinating. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl chloride polymer having used 0.1-10wt.% based on a vinyl chloride monomer fed of one or more olefins selected from 2-10C alpha-olefin (e.g. propylene, 1-butene or 1-hexene), 2-10C inner olefin (e.g. 2-butene or 2-heptene) and 2-10C cyclic olefin [e.g. dicyclo-(2,2,1)heptene-2] as a molecular weight modifier is suspended in an aqueous medium and then chlorinated. The prepared polymer has no adhesion of molten polymer to metallic surface in molding and processing, excellent molding and processing properties, provides molded articles showing no discoloration resulting from heat deterioration and has excellent appearance.
