Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily obtain a flocculation attractant of microorganism useful in microorganism-utilizing industry such as activated sludge process, by treating a bacterium cell obtained by cultivating bacterium belonging to the genus Nocardia with water and extracting a water soluble ingredient from the treated bacterium cell. CONSTITUTION:Gram dyeing: +; mobility: -; colony: turning-form and pale brawn color; aerial mycelium; present; vegetative mycelium; present, provided that it has irregular hyperplasia and has no secondary bifurcation; mycolic acid for cell wall: e.g. mycolic acid having 52 total carbon numbers and expressed by the formula; Nocardia amarae YKI strain having bacteriological properties, e.g. decomposing exrin and decomposing no casein is cultivated in a culture medium containing e.g. glucose to form bacterium cell, which is then separated and water is added to the resultant bacterium cell and mixture is ground and filtered to provide the flocculation attractant (FIX)-containing liquid. As necessary, 1-50g dried product of FIX per 1l microorganism culture medium is added to a microorganism to express flocculating ability to the microorganism.
