Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the contact of a liquid dispensing nozzle with an obstruction and to prevent the failure of the liquid dispensing nozzle by providing strain gage to a part of the wall of the liquid dispensing nozzle. CONSTITUTION:The light dispensing nozzle 1 such as specimen dispensing nozzle or reagent dispensing nozzle consists of a stainless steel tube having about 2-3mm outside diameter and is connected to a pump by a pipe 2. The nozzle 1 and a liquid level detecting electrode bar 4 are coated by an electrical insulation covering body 6 so as to be electrically insulated from each other and are mounted to a dispensing nozzle driving arm 7. The micro-strain gage 8 formed by adhering copper-nickel alloy resistance foil having several micron thickness to a resin base is adhered by an adhesive agent to the surface of this covering body 6. The strain gage 8 is connected to a bridge circuit for measurement by conductors 10, 10'. The signal from the bridge circuit for measurement is sent to a central processor when the nozzle 1 comes into contact with the obstruction such as container wall. The driving of the stepping motor of a driving device is then stopped, by which the failure of the nozzle 1 is prevented.
