This invention relates to a method for producing highly odorless high-pressure polyethylene. Conventionally, high-pressure polyethylene has been manufactured as follows. As shown in the figure, first, ethylene gas purified in an ethylene plant 1 and unreacted ethylene gas A circulated from a reactor 2 as described later are sent to a primary compressor 3. The ethylene compressed to about 200 kg/ cm2 by the primary compressor 3 is sent to the secondary compressor 4, where it is compressed to about 1,800 to 2,000 kg/cm2 along with the unreacted ethylene gas B that has been circulated from the reactor 2.
It is compressed to Kg/cm 2 and pressurized into reactor 2 together with an organic peroxide catalyst. Here, only 18 to 20% by weight of the supplied gas is polymerized, so the polymerized polymer and unreacted ethylene gas are first separated by a high-pressure separator 5 with a pressure of about 200 kg/cm 2 and then about 0.3
Separate with a low pressure separator 6 of about Kg/cm 2 . Unreacted ethylene gas B separated by high pressure separator 5
is returned to the secondary compressor 4, and the unreacted ethylene gas A separated by the low-pressure separator 6 passes through the surge tank 7 and compressor 8, and a part of it is returned to the ethylene purification system 1a of the ethylene plant 1, and the rest is purified. It is returned to the primary compressor 3 together with ethylene gas. The polymer discharged from the low pressure separator 6 is
A pelletizer 9 produces a granular product. By the way, in the above-mentioned conventional method for producing high-pressure polyethylene, 500% of esters such as methyl octylate, which are decomposed products of the catalyst, are produced during polymerization.
It is generated at a rate of approximately 1.5 g/ton, and is mixed into the polymer, giving the resulting polymer an ester odor. As a result, the polyethylene obtained by this method has the disadvantage that it is unsuitable for fields where odorlessness is strongly required, such as food packaging and pharmaceutical packaging. This invention was made in view of the above circumstances,
The purpose is to provide a method for producing high-pressure polyethylene that can obtain odorless high-pressure polyethylene, and is characterized by using tert-butyl peroxyisopropyl carbonate as a catalyst, thereby reducing the ester content during polymerization. Minimize occurrence as much as possible. Furthermore, it is desirable to prevent the concentration of ester from increasing during the polymerization process by recovering all unreacted ethylene gas generated in the low pressure separator to the ethylene purification plant. The catalyst used in this invention is tertiary butyl peroxyisopropyl carbonate.

臭性の高圧ポリエチレンを得ることができる。If this formula is used, the generation of ester in the reactor 2 can be extremely reduced to 10 g/ton or less. Furthermore, this tertiary butyl
If peroxyisopropyl carbonate is used as it is, there is a risk of ethylene decomposition reactions, etc., so paraffin with a carbon number of 6 to 15 is used to reduce the amount of peroxyisopropyl carbonate by 30%.
It is necessary to dilute it as follows. In this invention, first, ethylene gas purified in an ethylene plant 1 is sent to a primary compressor 3. Ethylene compressed to about 200Kg/cm2 by this primary compressor 3 is sent to the secondary compressor 4, where it is compressed to about 1800 to 2000Kg/cm2.
cm 2 and pressurized into reactor 2 together with a paraffin solution of tertiary butyl peroxyisopropyl carbonate. The polymerization at this time is 100 to 300
It is carried out at ℃. As mentioned above, since tertiary butyl peroxyisopropyl carbonate is used as a catalyst, the amount of ester generated at the same time as polymerization can be suppressed to an extremely small amount of 10 g/ton or less, and even if this ester is mixed into the produced polymer, It does not give off any odor even if it gets wet or adheres to the product. Since the polymerization carried out in this reactor 2 accounts for only 18 to 20% by weight of the fed gas, the polymerized polymer and unreacted ethylene gas are first separated by a high-pressure separator 5 with a pressure of about 200 kg/cm 2 and then Separate with a low pressure separator of approximately 0.3Kg/ cm2 . The unreacted ethylene gas A separated by the low-pressure separator 6 passes through the surge tank 7 and compressor 8, and most or all of it is sent to the rectification column 1a.
It is preferable to return to In this way, all of the unreacted ethylene gas separated by the low-pressure separator is returned to the rectifying column 1a, so trace amounts of esters contained in this unreacted ethylene gas are also returned to the rectifying column 1a.
a is separated and is not returned to the reactor 2. Therefore, the produced ester does not concentrate as the polymerization progresses, and the amount of ester mixed into or attached to the polymer can be kept to a very small amount so that no odor is perceived. In this way, the polymer discharged from the low pressure separator 6 is transferred to the pelletizer 9.
It is made into a granular product. As explained above, this invention uses tertiary butyl peroxyisopropyl carbonate as a catalyst to suppress the generation of ester during polymerization to a very small amount, and also allows unreacted ethylene gas separated by a low-pressure separator to be transferred to an ethylene plant. By recovering the ester, it is possible to prevent the ester from being concentrated during the polymerization process, and it is possible to obtain odorless high-pressure polyethylene that can be applied to food packaging and pharmaceutical packaging.
