Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a vinyl chloride resin having a degree of polymn., a particle diameter, a bulk specific gravity and gelation characteristics in specified values which is characterized in that the power consumed by the extrusion molding machine in treating the resin is remarkably decreased and that molded products thereof are not deteriorated in physical properties. CONSTITUTION:The title product is a vinyl chloride resin having an average degree of polymn. of 900-1,000, a mean particle diameter of 200-300mu, a bulk specific gravity of 0.55-0.60g/cc and a gelation time of 2-5min. The vinyl chloride resin having the above-mentioned properties is characterized in that the power consumed by the main screw of a powder extrusion molding machine per unit amt. of the extruded resin is remarkably decreased and that the molded products thereof are not deteriorated in physical properties. This resin is prepd. by polymerizing a vinyl chloride monomer or its mixture with other vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith in an aq. medium in the presence of a partially saponified PVA having a degree of saponification of 80-90mol.% and an average degree of polymn. of 500-1,300 in an amt. of 0.03-0.15pt.wt. per 100pts.wt. aforesaid vinyl chloride (its mixture) and a sorbitan fatty acid ester having a hydroxyl number of 50-150 and an HLB of 1.0-4.0 in an amt. of 110-300pts.wt per 100pts.wt. partially saponified PVA.
