Abstract
PURPOSE:To change the resolution in the main scanning direction and the subscanning direction equally by performing adjustment of the storage time of the output of an image pickup element and the moving speed in the subscanning direction of this element and setting of a lens onto an optical path in accordance with a set resolution value. CONSTITUTION:When a resolution value K is inputted to a microcomputer 19 by a set input part 20, the lens (omitted in the figure) is set to the optical path by a plunger 25 when the value K indicates a low resolution. Simultaneously, the driving current which drives a subscanning system at a speed K<2> is applied to a motor 11 from a subscanning driving circuit 22. In this state, the document read operation of a line sensor part 9 is started, and the output is stored in a capacitor C of a buffer 15. At this time, a sampling pulse phiSH and a reset pulse phiR are outputted from a counter part 23 by the control of the microcomputer 19 at each time of storage of K-number of picture elements, and the output of the buffer 15 is sampled and held and the capacitor C is reset.
