Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a chromated galvanized steel material excellent in adhesive strength, adhesive strength of coated film, etc., by subjecting a galvanized steel material to cathodic electrolytic treatment under specific conditions by the use of a bath containing Cr<6+>, colloidal silica, and fluoride in respectively specified concentrations and then washing the above material with warm water for a specific time. CONSTITUTION:Reducing electrolytic treatment of a galvanized steel material is carried out under the conditions of 1-50A/dm<2> current density and 1-100C/dm<2> quantity of electricity by using a bath containing 2-80g/l of Cr<6+>, 0.5-75g/l, expressed in terms of SiO2 and/or Al2O3, of colloidal silica and/or alumina sol, and 0.05-5g/l, expressed in terms of F<->, of fluoride. Subsequently, the steel material is washed for >=0.5sec with warm water of >=about 50 deg.C and/or a reducing agent-added aqueous solution (0.1-10wt.% of hydrazine is added). By this method, the chromated galvanized steel material having superior surface characteristics, such as corrosion resistance after painting and bare corrosion resistance, can be stably manufactured with superior efficiency.
