PURPOSE:To make lines emphatically thick almost without changing the size of character, symbol, etc., for clear print visibility by installing an operation control means for actuating one or both of the first and second shift increasing image. CONSTITUTION:When a horizontal shift is set in RAM 3 by an operating part 7, a dot pattern such as basic character and symbol preset by operation of the first shift increasing means is processed by shift increasing operation by the number of designated dots which are set horizontal. This horizontally shifted dot pattern in a picture frame buffer 13 is output to a thermal head to print label paper to be fed with thick vertical lines. When vertical shift data is set in RAM 3, the dot pattern is processed by shift increasing operation by the number of dots designated vertically through actuation of the second shift increasing means. As a result, printing is performed on paper with thick horizontal lines by means of a thermal head.
