Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the cutting of the sheath and high-tenacity fiber materials of an optical cable to a desired size while maintaining prescribed working accuracy by blowing air from a cross direction to the high-tenacity fiber materials exposed by scalping at the bottom end of a clamping position, sucking the terminal thereof by a suction port, arraying the terminal in the cross direction and cutting the terminal. CONSTITUTION:The terminal 1 of the optical cable supplied to the prescribed position is clamped while the oscillation thereof is prevented. Only the sheath material is cut by a cutter having blade parts 31, 31' of the diameter at which only the sheath material of the cable can be cut by which the scalping is executed in this position. The air is blown from the cross direction to the high-tenacity fiber materials exposed after the scalping and the terminal thereof is simultaneously sucked to the suction port 41 of the suction device and while the fiber materials are arranged in the cross direction, the terminal is cut in the adequate length position thereof. The sheath material is thereby cut and the fiber materials are further cut to the desired length while the prescribed accuracy is assured.
