Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify a system by providing passive safety devices which couple the two points in a cooling system by a piping via a tank and are so constituted that the coolant therein contains a neutron absorber and stagnates with low enthalpy in a stationary state. CONSTITUTION:The passive safety and shutdown system PSSSs of the passive safety devices are provided to the respective loops. The head of the pump 3 is so decreased that the system maintains the stationary state while the coolant in the PSSS stagnates. The decreased component of the head is compensated by an auxiliary pump 10. The PSSS is attached to an RCS and control rods, high-pressure injector, accumulator and various apparatus ancillary thereto are removed. The flow rate for packing and extracting of a chemical volume and control system (CVSS) is adjusted to boost the primary system and a pressurizer heater is simultaneously turned on at the time of, for example, start-up. The pressure is maintained when about 28atm is attained, then a main pump 3 and a pump 10 are started. After a gaseous phase part is formed in a heater, an after heat removing system is isolated and the temp. and pressure increase are executed. The critical operation of the reactor is started upon attaining of a warm stop state. The pressure increase is executed by dilution of a boron concn.
