Abstract
PURPOSE:To enlarge the bonding strength between a linear member and a cutting member and avoid the deterioration in cutting performance of the cutting member by caulking a cylindrical member and the cutting member to fix the same to the linear member. CONSTITUTION:A green compact containing a super abrasive is formed on an outer circumferential surface of a cylindrical member 16, and is then sintered to form a cutting member 18 on the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical member 16. Then, longitudinal slits 26 are formed in the cylindrical member 16 and the cutting member 18, and a wire rope (a kind of linear member) 12 is inserted into the cylindrical member 16. Under the condition, the cylindrical member 16 and the cutting member 18 are caulked to be fixed around the wire rope 12. Thus, the fixing of the cutting member 18 is effected by caulking without using solder or the like. Accordingly, there is no possibility of solder or the like entering pores in the cutting member 18, resulting in no change in metal composition of the cutting member 18. Therefore, the deterioration in cutting performance of the cutting member 18 may be avoided.
