Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a billy roller from being ground at both ends lying beyond the machining material region of an endless sanding belt by providing a dresser equipped with a grinding board having a grinding material layer of a specific shape so as to be opposite to the polishing surface of the endless sanding belt, so that the abrasive grain layer at both these ends can be removed. CONSTITUTION:In the condition that an endless sanding belt 13 is running, a handle is turned to press the abutting edge 31 of the grinding board 30 in a dresser on the polishing surface f of the belt 13. In this case, bulky abrasive grain grinding parts 33 at both ends of the grinding material layer 32 in the abutting edge 31 are strongly pressed on both end parts x of the belt 13 lying beyond the width of machining material region, so that the abrasive grain layer y at both end parts x of the belt 13 can be ground and removed. As a result, since both end parts x of the belt 13 lying beyond the width of machining material region are directly brought into contact with a billy roller 3 and the abrasive grain layer y on these parts has been removed, the circumferential surface of the billy roller 3 is not subjected to grinding, and the abrasion thereof can be prevented. Further, the surface of machining material whose sharpness has been deteriorated is restored by the restoring part 34 at the center of the grinding board 30, and the grindability can be recovered.
