Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure freedom from the dispersal of heating temperature, eliminate an adverse effect due to re-heating and ensure uniform strength for enabling the stability of strength against looseness in shrinkage fitting by applying only once tempering temperature as heating after induction hardening and using the tempering temperature in common with heating for shrinkage fitting. CONSTITUTION:A ring gear 3 is applied with the predetermined induction hardening at a preliminarily cutout tooth part 4 and a flywheel 1 has a cylindrical part 2 for engagement with the ring gear 3. Then, the ring gear 3 is shrinkage fitted to the flywheel 1 in such a way that the ring gear 3 is heated to a tempering temperature of approximately 180 deg.C to 200 deg.C and tempered under exposure to said temperature for the predetermined time. Thereafter, the ring gear 3 is pressed into the cylindrical part 2 of the flywheel 1 using heating temperature for tempering before temper cooling and the ring gear 3 is cooled. According to the aforementioned method, the ring gear 3 is shrinkage fitted to the cylindrical part 2 of the flywheel 1.
