CONSTITUTION:A strip-like knitted cloth 1 with loop yarn 3 drawn out of the surface is twisted into a core material 1, and a plurality of protruding loop yarns are formed on the periphery. At that time, the chain-textured yarn 5 which constitutes the strip-like knitted cloth 1 is twisted in a direction in which the loop yarn 3 is pushed out of a draw-out base 3a to the surface. Consequently, the loop yarn 3 is caused to protrude radially to the surface (periphery) of the core material 1 by the self-elasticity of the loop yarn 3 and the pushing force of the chain-textured yarn 5, and a multivoided cylinder consisting of a plurality of loop yarns 3 around the core material 2 is formed. Activated sludge is captured even in the interior of the cylinder so that the improved contact oxidation effect is assured.
