Abstract

PURPOSE:To carry out efficiently a volume reduction treatment of waste plastics by arranging a rotating shaft with a screw blade inside a hot wind furnace so as to heat homogeneously the waste plastics which are charged into this furnace by stirring them with this blade. CONSTITUTION:A hot wind is blown into a hot wind furnace 6 through nozzles 6a. At the time when a motor 2 is on, a rotating shaft 11 is turned into reverse rotation and waste plastics which are charged into the furnace 6 are stirred by a screw blade 10 attached to the shaft 11. Due to this stirring, thermoplastic plastics which are meltable at a temperature in the furnace 6 are mixed well with unmeltable thermosetting plastics, and the hot wind is so evenly distributed all over the waste plastics that they are almost homogeneously heated, reduced their volume and melted. Then, the rotating shaft 11 is turned into normal rotation, the half-molten waste plastics are conveyed toward a discharge opening 8 of the furnace 6 and discharged into a bucket 13 by way of the opening 8.
