Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively adsorb various offensive odors in an automobile by preparing a deodorant for automobiles using a crystalline metal silicate wherein the molar ratio of silicon oxide to an oxide of a trivalent metal is 20 or more. CONSTITUTION:A deodorizer for automobiles is prepared by the use of a crystalline metal silicate wherein the molar ratio of silicon oxide to an oxide of a trivalent metal, such as Al, B, Cr, Fe and Ga, is 20 or more. Examples of such a crystalline metal silicate include crystalline aluminosilicate, crystalline gallosilicate, crystalline borosilicate, crystalline ferric silicate. Preferred is a crystalline metal silicate belonging to metal silicates having a pentasil-type structure containing ten-membered oxygen rings forming main vacancies. The thus-obtained deodorant is not only extremely superior to the products on the market in the ability to adsorption-eliminate a gasolinic odor, but also excellent in the ability to adsorption-eliminate acetaldehyde, methyl ethyl ketone, etc.
